Meeting of Fate (Rome and Ancient Greece only)

"You mean because of being in the Roman army, right?"

He shook his head. "No. The other .... nations around me are all men. Well those that I've met." he amended. "I didnt even think that there were female nations.."

Helena stared at Rome for a few seconds before laughing. She couldn't help it. Wow, he can be an idiot at times. How could he think that there WOULDN'T be female nations? she thought. When she calmed down, she smirked at him.

"Oh, you'd be surprised at what nations are female. In fact, Egypt is a female nation. And one you don't want to piss off, either."

Feeling a little offended by her laugh- but also enthralled by how beautiful she looked while laughing, he felt a jolt of surprise at the mention of Egypt being female.

"Egypt? Come now, surely you're pulling my leg!"

Helena's smirk grew more.

"Yes, Egypt's a female nation. And I'm not joking cause lying would benefit neither of us."

"It could benefit you for some reason that I cannot yet fathom," he responded, "Although since I am unable to fathom the reason, the reason for your lying eludes me."

"I'm still not lying, but I don't expect you to believe me, so whatever."

It was the truth. Helena didn't expect him to believe her, even though she was telling him the truth.

"Anyway, how did you enjoy the fighting?"

"I enjoyed it. It reminded me of Etrusca's mock funeral battles... but your style of fighting was different and intriguing," he honestly replied.

"Hand-to-hand combat is something the army is extremely good at. Myself, as well. But I sure you could tell from what I did to the insubordinate soldier."

There was no humor in the last comment. It was plain, simple fact, but the way Helena said it made it seem so cold.

"Yes I noticed how accomplished you were." he responded, "Actually I've always greatly admired your military strategy."

Helena raised an eyebrow.

"Really? Well, I'll give my compliments to General Daedalus."

OOC: I'm surprised Rome hasn't tried to kiss Helena or do anything else, even though he already gave himself a quickie. >w>;;

"Mmmm I based some of my military tactics on your phalanx. It's super effective."

OOC: He's on his bestest behaviour. There is no way he is going to insult her in that manner. ;; Flaminius would beat him or something ;u;

"Really? Well then, the actual contest between the army and the few Roman men who joined should provide an interesting spectacle. Despite the fact that your men have some of the tactics the army has, there will be differences. As to what they are, you'll have to figure it out for yourself."

Helena wasn't too surprised that the Romans used some of the military tactics her country used, it made her worry. She knew that those tactics could be used against her in a time that the Roman Empire would decide whether or not to add Greece to their vast lands. And she didn't want any part of it.

"Oh I doubt that we'll prove our worth that well - they're not used to the combat style you were employing from what I saw." He responded.

Helena shurgged.

"You never know."

"Ve that is true.. you never know..." he paused thoughtfully before looking at her, "Would you ever consider an alliance? Like a uhm ... marriage with another country?"

An alliance?

Helena looked at Rome straight in the eyes.

"It would depend on the country. However, I don't really make the decision alone. The king would be the one to officially decide if he wanted an alliance between our country and another's."

"Hmm... but you would prefer if you were the one in charge of the alliance?" he asked. knowing it was a rather stupid question.

OOC: Also it's sort of like Roma hasn't fully entered his 'lady killer' powers yet if that makes sense. He's still young!

Helena thought about that question before answering.

"There are times I'd rather...not do things I think would harm my country in the long run. However, I tend to forget that sometimes the small, shortcomings that provide my country a benefical effect and there are times it proves to be lasting. So really... it's an in-between thing. I need to think of the people's need, not my wants."

"You're very wise." he commented, "Well wiser than me. I just take what I want damned be the consequences which .. ah usually gets me in trouble."

"So I've noticed," Helena said with an amused smile. "Your general was most...flustered with the way you were flirting with me. Truthfully, it was a bit funny."

While she still didn't really trust this Roman, Helena was allowing herself to enjoy his company. He wasn't THAT bad and he was a little charming from time to time. While she wasn't sure he would try to take over Greece in the future, she was certain that he could be an enjoyable companion.

"I can't help flirting with a pretty woman can I?" he responded in defence, "Although I am attempting to be on my best behaviour... I think I might have spent too much time in the army camps recently though."

"We are who we are. Sometimes, even when we or others want to change that, it doesn't happen," Helena replied with a shrug of her shoulders. Then she grinned.

"Though, I can understand why having been in the army for a long time can do such a thing to you."
