Finishing his song he set his horn down and sat back in his chair.
‘Suppose I should work on grading those papers’ he thought. He glanced at the desk in the corner, his briefcase full of last week’s Spanish quizzes. Casually, he walked over opening the case and pulling out the pages. He stared at the answers, checking off errors and circling grades. Today was the first day of his new club, Music Appreciation……a Glee club of sorts. A place where kids could sing, dance, and improve on both if need be. So far, it just had been him sitting alone with his trumpet. Not an ideal situation.
He jammed his hand into his pocket, fingering the cigarillo inside it. He so wanted to light up and let his worries drift away with the smoke but he remembered……school grounds and smoking didn’t mix. He sighed heavily and muttered to himself. Just another hour.
