Those blue pools put every single one of Katyusha’s emotions under a spotlight. Kat was so expressive, though he didn’t know it herself. A small nibble of her bottom lip was a smothered grin, a tiny crease between the brows screamed of worry.
Matthew smiled blithely upwards, hands resting behind his head.
He may not be a mind reader- and he still couldn’t read Katyusha’s poker face for the life of him- but a smugger part of him liked the idea that he’d become so attuned to Katyusha that he saw and understood things no one else could.

Who’da thunk it.
Matthew stuffed them into the bottom of his bag, throwing the whole thing over his shoulder. It wasn’t heavy, having already moved most of his school things out already. This was the last of it.
His sneakers squeaked against the floor as he made short work of the unending hallways with his lengthy strides. He’d finished with his things but he’d promised to help Katyusha with her things. Kumajiro tucked under his arm, Matthew recalled how much better Katyusha looked now that exams had ended. They were both free of school now, which was both a relief and an impending sort of doom.
Ah, it’s better not to dwell on it now, Matt decided. He tended to space out when thinking too much and the last thing he needed to do was get lost and end up being late to help Kat.
