“I really am sorry…” The words were whispered in a soft, genuine undertone. Matthew’s gaze lifted briefly from the floor and peered beseechingly into the bright blue of Katyusha’s eyes. They were full of tears. Naturally his hand rose to cup her cheek and brush them away, but freezing mid-action, he flushed shamefully and instead pulled a Kleenex from his pocket, handing it to her. “Here.”
The corner of his mouth flickered upwards at the look of determination on her face, the cute little crease that formed between her brows and the way her full bottom lip jutted out slight, However Matthew turned away, not wanting her to think he was laughing at the circumstances.
They stood awkwardly for a while. Matthew reached up and took off his hat and scratchy wig if only to give his hands something to do. Sometimes people usually in pairs would be going to or from the gym, giggling and chatting animatedly, casting curious glances at the two of them standing sullenly against the wall.
Well, Matthew thought cynically, I wanted a night she’d remember and that’s exactly what I got.
For some reason, he felt rather stupid. Not for the inappropriate grabbing (he felt plenty stupid for that!), but because he thought this would be easy. His mind had been off in some la-la land, picturing himself and Katyusha , boyfriend and girlfriend, skipping off into a happy sunset where nothing bad would ever happened. Matthew felt like a naive tween girl who had read too many Teen Bop magazines.
Of course bad things would happen, times would hard. There wasn’t a couple in history that never had problems. If he took it into perspective, this was an opportunity to strengthen what they had. And now he knew where Katyusha’s boundaries were, and the limits of his (pitifully weak) self control.
The epiphany fed his confidence, and pushing away from the wall, Matthew faced Katyusha, expression still full of regret but now mixed with responsibility. “Please, tell me what you’re thinking…?”
After all, he may have come to a positive solution, but it was all in Katyusha’s hands whether she understood to or whether she dropped him like a hot potato.
Finished~
Is crap, sorreh, but I'm too tired to think anymore =3=
