Name: Carlos Machado
Age: 33
Job: Doctor
Degree: Masters in Social Psychology, some study in Community psychology.
History: By the looks of him, Carlos looks like a ne'er do well rather than a doctor. A brute rather than a kind soul. He is originally from Cuba, a place most people think is a military state that is ruled by fear. That is not the case. Carlos was raised in a loving household with parents that supported him. Due to his stature, which was always bigger, bulkier and staunch, he was quickly labeled a bully. Often times kids would accuse him of hounding the other kids in the neighborhood just for fun. Still, Carlos never let it affect him too much.
As he grew older, he became interested in why people would think of him a certain way. This led to an interest in sociology and psychology. This decision ultimately came when a girl he had grown up with went to the police saying a large, bulky boy had beaten her up and assaulted her. Carlos fit the bill, for hours he was interrogated without his parents, even though he had been in the local music hall the entire time the girl was beaten. The girl ultimately told the truth, her boyfriend, the skinny, well toned football player had done it. Again, his looks had played a negative affect on him. As he left the station he decided to dedicate himself to research this.
And he did. He dedicated himself to his studies, earning a scholarship to one of the finest colleges in the united states. Upon arriving there, he was looked at with a bit of ridicule, a bulky, brute that smoked from Cuba a psychology major? A book worm? He shrugged it off with a smile and puff of his cigar, earning a master’s and doctorate in Social Psychology. He wanted to get a specialization in Community Psychology but was unable to get all the credits he needed. It does not hamper him.
Freshly out of school, he did his internship and residencies at varying smaller residential facilities, practicing his methodology on positive reinforcement combined with specialized dialogue suited to the patient. So far it has had some success. It garnered enough to be asked to join the staff here. He took it with gusto. Here he hopes to continue his research and practice, ultimately to publish a study to document the feasibility of his practices into main stream usage.
