Name: Feliciano Vargas
Age: 24 years old
Job/Occupation: Priest
Degree: No degrees of formal education; trained at the Holy See, ordained by the Pope
History: Ever since he was young, Feliciano has felt he was destined to serve the Lord.
His childhood is mostly a blur, with no recollection of his parents and the early memories of his time spent in orphanage only mere flashes in his mind; his most vivid memories are those spent with his grandfather, as he was adopted and taken away to Venice at a young age. Feliciano’s grandfather was a busy man, so he spent most of his time alone, watching the children play outside.
Left to his own devices, Feliciano began to teach himself how to read from the only book he could find in his grandfather’s house: the Bible. He was fascinated and moved even as a child by the stories of perseverance, love, and sacrifice that were recorded there--and would read passages to his grandfather every night he would come home. His grandfather took him to Rome, and Feliciano immediately enlisted in the church as an altar boy. He wanted to help people, just like in the stories he read as a child.
But soon, Feliciano discovered there was someone he wanted to help more than any other; one day as he was going through his Grandfather's pictures, Feliciano learned of an older brother that he had been separated from at the orphanage. And shortly after, he learned of his older brother's whereabouts; after his Grandfather had adopted him, his brother had been picked up as well, and was now a renowned criminal in the Italian mafia.
Learning this, Feliciano began to study with even more fervor than before, reading His Word whenever during all his spare moments, watching the priests as they worked, researching articles, writing down his own thoughts to cement his own faith and ideas, and praying for his brother's soul constantly, all in hopes that he would someday be able to save him from damnation. It wasn't long before the priests at the church took notice of his devotion. Feliciano was home-schooled, taking private lessons from priests and bishops on the ways of the church. Eventually, he was recommended for priesthood and was suggested to the Pope himself, and soon Feliciano found himself ordained.
Being stationed in a church wasn't suiting for him, however; his drive to save people who truly needed saving--like his brother--was too strong. He began missionary work, starting off in the United States at an asylum in great need of help. Every Wednesday and Friday, Feliciano is escorted in by the guards to the Central Wing, where he greets patients one-on-one to hear their troubles and try to offer guidance.
